Valentine's Day gets better and better every year, especially with my cute little boy. He made his first Valentine for me and I couldn't have been a happier mom!

My husband participated in making me feel super special by bringing home some cake pops from Sweet E's for me. Awww....what a sweet guy!

YUM! I wanted to wait until after dinner to savor these beauties, but they barely survived a few photos. Delicious and moist!

Everybody Wins on Valentine's Day!

Yesterday was the 10th Valentine's Day my husband and I celebrated together. Wow we are getting old!

My husband is the best husband and dad to Desmond I could ever ask for. He never fails to make me feel like I'm #1 in his life. Case in point: Sweet and Saucy Shop cupcakes. I might have given him a few subtle hints and it worked. He got home from work on Valentine's Day with a delicious box of cupcakes from Sweet and Saucy Shop. He even researched my favorite flavor and got me two of them (Candy Bar, in case you were wondering). What more could a girl want?!

Nothing Say Valentine's Like a Red Velvet Cupcake

There's no questioning that Red Velvet is the perfect cupcake for Valentine's Day. Two reasons make it that day: the chocolate flavor and the deep red color. (P.S. If a red velvet cupcake is a light or bright red color, it's not a real red velvet.)

You never need an excuse to make or eat cupcakes, but Valentine's Day works as my excuse. Your Cup of Cake posted two red velvet cupcake recipes. One is from scratch and one is for time-crunched people (from a box). 

So get out your mixer and red cupcake wrappers because it's time to love some cupcakes.

A few weeks ago I wrote about a cupcake fondue tutorial from Bake It Pretty. But cupcake fondue is nothing new. Two years ago Cupcake Project gave us this same great idea for Valentine's Day -- cupcake fondue. But this one is a little different, as it uses a chocolate dip -- perfect for Valentine's Day.

Conversation Heart Brownies

Looking for a cute, easy (and dare I say, last minute) Valentine's treat idea?

Look no further! These Conversation Heart Brownies from Duncan Hines are super easy to make and will show your sweetheart how much you care.

Conversation Heart Brownies
1 pkg Duncan Hines Chocolate Lover's Double Fudge Brownie Mix
1 large egg
1/3 cup water
1/3 cup vegetable oil
1 tub Duncan Hines Creamy Home-Style Classic Vanilla Frosting
1 tub Duncan Hines Creamy Home-Style Classic Chocolate Frosting

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease bottom of 8x8 pan.

2. Prepare and bake brownies according to package directions.
Cool completely.

3. Cut into hearts using heart-shaped cookie cutter,
carefully remove from pan.

4. Frost and decorate.

5. Eat the remaining brownies
(I added this myself...I mean, you wouldn't want
the extra brownies to go to waste!)

Fondant "I Heart U" Pops

Melody from My Sweet & Saucy has posted a tutorial on Brides.com for fondant "I Heart U" pops. These pops are made with donut holes and fondant. Once you have all of the ingredients and supplies, they look pretty easy to make. A perfect Valentine's gift!

Valentine's Day Cupcakes For Sale

Valentine's Day is fast-approaching! The best Valentine's gift I can think of for myself would be a box full of cupcakes. I wish my husband was that easy to shop for. I'll probably end up getting him something bike-related. Anyways, if you're looking for some places to buy cupcakes for your Valentine, here are a few suggestions.


Sprinkles Cupcakes has a few different cupcakes available for Valentine's Day. I believe this year is the first time they've offered Red HOT Velvet, their classic red velvet cupcake paired with spicy cinnamon cream cheese frosting. Also available is their XOX Box, a mixture of red velvet, chocolate marshmallow, dark chocolate, and vanilla. Available in all stores for $3.25 each.

Godiva Chocolatier has Limited Edition Pink Vanilla Buttercream Cupcakes in honor of Valentine's Day. These cupcakes come with a Godiva chocolate ganache in the center. Available online only, $28 per half dozen.

Crumbs Bake Shop is offering several Valentine's Day cupcakes. Their assortment includes Be Mine (vanilla/vanilla with heart-shaped sugar cookie), Red Hot (vanilla/cream cheese with red hots), Sweetheart (vanilla/fudge filling/chocolate cream cheese topped with heart sugars), Ooh La La (chocolate/vanilla cream cheese with heart-shaped brownie), and Chocolate Covered Strawberry (strawberry/strawberry jam filled/chocolate buttercream). All cupcakes are available in store for $3.75 each.

The Perfect Circle Cupcakery in Orange is offering three new flavors for Valentine's Day. Caramel Bordeaux is a valrhona dark chocolate cake with rich caramel frosting wrapped in toffee pieces (available February 12-14). White Chocolate Raspberry is a white cake and a raspberry surprise with white chocolate frosting topped with fresh raspberries drizzled in chocolate (available February 12-14). Dark Chocolate Strawberry is a valrhona dark chocolate cake with strawberry filling and frosting topped with chocolate kiss (available for the month of February). Cupcakes are $3.00 each.



One of my new favorite cupcakeries is Sweet and Saucy Shop in Long Beach, CA. For Valentine's Day they are offering an assortment of yummy treats. My choice would be the gift basket of 6 cake lollipops for $20. A girl can dream, can't she?

Last, but certainly not least -- SusieCakes! The cupcake of the month is Sugar & Spice: vanilla cupcake with cinnamon buttercream frosting. SusieCakes is also offering Susie's Signature Heart-Shaped Red Velvet Cake For Two.
