Baby Shower PushCakes

I was in charge of dessert at a friend's baby shower. Wanting to do something a little different, I contacted Meringue Bake Shop to get some PushCakes. Don't tell me you haven't try a PushCake yet! They are a PushPop-type dessert layered with cake and frosting. You push up from the bottom to reveal more cupcake goodness. Amazing is an understatement. Turns out they make for great decor too.

Meringue Bake Shop Coming to Orange Farmers Market

Beginning January 21, Meringue Bake Shop will be coming to the Old Towne Orange Farmers and Artisan Market. I'm super excited about this because the farmers market is exactly two blocks from my house. Now I have easy access to cupcakes and Meringue Bake Shop's famous Push Cakes! The Orange farmers market is every Saturday from 9am-1pm, 304 N. Cypress St., Orange, CA.

Another Way to Ship Cupcakes

Shipping a cupcake is impossible. Right? Wrong! You just have to be creative about it.

I'm always on the lookout for new and clever ways to ship cupcakes. Two years ago I highlighted Beantown Baker's way of cutting cupcakes in half and shipping in mason jars. Last year Yummy Cupcakes took this one step further and layered the cupcakes in the jars. This year's idea incorporates a new cupcake trend: push pop cupcakes!

My friend Kristin was the first person I saw with push pop cupcakes called: Push Cakes. Now everyone is making push pop cupcakes, including Cupcake Project. She uses push pop holders from CupKatesEventDesign to ship her push pop cupcakes.

Because the holders can be sealed, the cake and frosting stay inside. She recommends packing the holder tightly so they will have less room move around. She also says, "worry less about presentation and more about volume and flavor."

Peep Push Pops

A few months ago Meringue Bake Shop introduced us to Push Cakes. They are exactly what they sound like: push up cupcakes. The layers of cake, frosting, and other goodies sound heavenly (sadly I haven't tried one yet)!

Now I see push up cupcakes everywhere. Recently, Cupcakes Take the Cake highlighted Cupcake Push Pop Peeps from Love From the Oven. These adorable Easter treats are made from mini cupcakes, frosting, and Peeps. Seriously so cute!

And speaking of Peeps, check out these Tuxedo Peeps featured on Cheeky Kitchen. I love Easter candy!

Push Cakes

Last year the newest, most unique, cupcake item was CupShakes. 2010's new cupcake invention is Push Cakes. Meringue Bake Shop's new item is based on one of my favorite childhood treats, push pops.

Push Cakes are clear tubes stuffed with layers of cake and frosting. You push up from the bottom to reveal more cupcake goodness.

You can find Meringue Bake Shop selling her signature cupcakes and Push Cakes at the Great Park Farmers Market every Sunday from 10a-2p. Stick A Fork In It has reported that Push Cakes are $3 or 2 for $5 and so delicious. I can't wait to try one myself!
