Firefighter Cupcakes

My good friend Jessett has three beautiful daughters. She is currently pregnant with her fourth baby and she's having a BOY! Their family couldn't be more excited!

Jessett's husband is a firefighter, so of course the baby shower was a fireman-themed one. I loved the decorations and, of course, couldn't resist eating a fire-themed cupcake. Baby MJ is going to be so loved and I can't wait to meet him!

Little Man Baby Shower Cupcake Toppers

Last week I helped host a baby shower for a friend who just had a baby boy. I was in charge of decorations and was directed to Remarkable Home where I found the cutest cupcake toppers. Being a perfectionist and not too crafty, I made each topper by hand. I had forgotten how much using scissors for an extended period of time really hurts. But the result was worth it. How adorable!

Jill's Baby Shower - Take 2

In April I attended a baby shower for my best friend Jill (thrown by her sister-in-laws). She had her baby on April 22, a cute little girl named Lola Dee.

Although I already blogged about the cupcakes at her baby shower, my pictures didn't serve them justice. And so I re-present Book Baby Shower Cupcakes, courtesy of Amelia Lyon.

Baby Shower Cupcakes

Being the ripe old age of 28, I have a lot of friends that are having babies. I love coming across cute decorating ideas for baby shower cupcakes. The latest I found on Party Cupcake Ideas. These were made using fondant and Nilla Wafers.

One day it will be my turn to have a baby and my baby shower will have the best cupcakes. I still have plenty of time for planning...

Book Baby Shower

The countdown is coming to an end. Less than two weeks to go for my friend Jill's baby! I'm so excited!!

Last week Jill's sister-in-laws threw Jill her final baby shower (if you remember, I threw a baby shower for her a few weeks ago also). I was so amazed by how much detail they put into the whole shower. I was even more surprised when I walked in and saw the backyard filled with cupcakes. Cupcakes everywhere!

The theme of the baby shower was books. Each table had a book with cupcakes to match. Such a cute idea!

In addition to the book-matching cupcakes, the host also hand-stitched mini book as toppers on the other cupcakes.

I'm secretly hoping someone will do the exact same thing for me when I get pregnant someday. I'll keep you posted on Jill's baby status.

Babycakes from The Perfect Circle

Yesterday I introduced Avalanche Bark, a yummy treat that I served at my friend Jill's baby shower. But what would a baby shower be without cupcakes?!

Being in the middle of tax season, I just didn't have the time to make the perfect cupcakes for Jill. Instead, I went for the second best option: babycakes from The Perfect Circle!


I ordered two dozen chocolate coconut babycakes (mini cupcakes). They were the hit of the baby shower and disappeared quickly! Everyone kept asking if I made them, unfortunately I had to tell them the truth.


Babycakes are available from The Perfect Circle for $15/dozen. Order ahead of time because they mostly sell regular-sized cupcakes in their shop.

Homemade Avalanche Bark

Besides a million other things, my friend Jill and I share a special bond: sweets. We both love sweets more than practically anything else.

Jill is almost 37 weeks pregnant. Neither of us have kids yet, so this is a pretty big deal! Last night I threw her a baby shower. Of course, I made sure there were plenty of treats to get us on an everlasting sugar-high.

One of the desserts I brought was Avalanche Bark. If you've never tried or even heard of Avalanche Bark, you have been missing out. You can find Avalance Bark at Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory, but I recently came across the recipe on cookies and cups.

Avalanche Bark is similar to rice krispie treats, except there's even more goodness: semi-sweet chocolate chips, white chocolate chips, and peanut butter. Super easy to make, no baking involved.

Presenting: My Cupcake Tower

Remember the big giveaway I hosted a few months ago for a Cupcake Tower? I couldn't believe how many of you really, really wanted to win this fantastic product. I mean, who wouldn't? There's nothing else like it!

Well, like all of you, I wanted one too. And last weekend I was finally able to debut my brand new Cupcake Tower!

My sister, Robin is pregnant with her second baby and I hosted a baby shower for her at my house. I was in charge of desserts (of course), so I decided that I wanted a variety of desserts, which I could display on my cupcake tower.

The theme of the shower was the beach, so I made and decorated these adorable bear-in-intertube cupcakes. I got the idea from a photo I found on flickr.

Although cupcakes are great desserts by themselves, I wanted some variety too. I included a few other desserts: mini red velvet cookies, mint brownies, and lemon bars.

Since my Cupcake Tower had partitions on each level, I separated each dessert into sections.

What I love about my Cupcake Tower:

~Easy to store - it breaks down flat so it doesn't take up much space at all
~Easy to setup - less than a minute
~Easy to clean - has a thin laminate coating so it wipes clean easily
~Looks great - I got so many compliments on it!

I can't wait to use it again!

Looking for Baby Shower Dessert Ideas

My little sister is a baby-making machine! She has already produced the cutest little baby boy ever and now she is ready to pop with baby #2. This time she's having a girl. How perfect!

I'm throwing a baby shower for her in less than two weeks. I put myself in charge of making the desserts. I would like to have three desserts, one of them being cupcakes (of course).

I'm looking for two delicious desserts (brownies, cookies, cake, etc) and a cute decorating idea for cupcakes. The theme for the baby shower is the ocean/beach. Any ideas?
