Thank you, thank you, thank you!
I'm still recovering from my sugar high of last night's Just Spotted: OC Blog Awards Party! Joe's Italian Ice, cupcakes from Meringue Bake Shop, cookies from The Scoop on Cookies, and a drink bar from Izze Beverages. But besides the food I had a great time meeting new people and having fun at Pretend City.

The most surprising part of the night was when Kelly announced the winners and said my blog won the category of "Best Cooking & Baking Blog." Wow, I couldn't believe it! Thank you to all of my readers who voted for me! I feel so loved! I absolutely LOVE writing The Cupcake Activist and hope to continue to bring cupcake happiness to your lives.
Stay tuned...I'll be posting the other winners and photos from the night.

Recipes for Winning Cupcakes!
I'm always on the look-out for delicious cupcake recipes. But even if I find a recipe that sounds good, I'm always a little nervous that it won't be quite what I hoped for.
SF Food Wars has published recipes of some of the winning cupcakes from the SF Food Wars: Mini Cupcake Clash. Luckily, I know these recipes are fantastic because I already tasted the final results!

Interesting note: noticed that "My Grandma's Bananas" used a yellow cake mix...from a box! (Gasp!) That cupcake won the People's Choice award, so maybe using a box mix isn't so bad. But if you're going to use a box mix, I would suggest adding your own twist to make it a little different.

I'm a Winner!

I'm a recovering chocoholic. I used to eat it every day or would feel awful withdrawals. Luckily, I have overcome my battle and can eat chocolate on occasion without any negative effects.
Last week I entered a giveaway on Cupcake Project's blog to win three chocolate bars. And not just any chocolate, but Amano chocolate. Yesterday I was thrilled to find out that I won!
Thank you to Cupcake Project and Amano Chocolate! I can't wait to receive my chocolate bars!
