Cinnabon Cupcakes

Everyone is starting to realize that cupcakes are not just a fad and are adding them to their menu. As much as I like this idea, most of the time the cupcakes are bad quality (perfect example: Taco Bell).

The newest place to jump on the cupcake bandwagon is Cinnabon. I'm actually excited to try one of their cupcakes because obviously they specialize in baked goods. And let's think about it...a cinnamon roll is not that much different than a cupcake. Well, I would say it's in the same family, at least.

Cinnabon is offering four flavors of cupcakes:

Cinnacake Classic ~ moist, vanilla cake infused with Cinnabon's Makara Cinnamon, topped with our signature cream cheese frosting and garnished with a caramel, Makara Cinnamon swirl.

Chocolate Passion ~ moist, decadent chocolate cake topped with rich, chocolate buttercream frosting

Vanilla Bliss
~ moist, divinely vanilla cake topped with luscious, vanilla buttercream frosting

24-Carrot Cake ~ moist, perfectly-spiced carrot cake with a hint of pineapple and coconut, topped with Cinnabon's signature cream cheese frosting and orange sugar sprinkles

A few people have already reviewed them (Nichelle from CTTC and Java Cupcake), but I want to hear what YOU think. Have you seen them being sold at your local Cinnabon? What's your favorite flavor?

Hi! I am planning to post a full review next week. They are and best eaten with a glass of milk (low-fat).

Cupcakes Take The Cake

I tried all four this weekend, and overall I was not impressed. After a bite of each, I threw away all but the Cinnabon one. The carrot cake was particularly disappointing -- flavorless, way too chewy cake that no frosting could save. The vanilla cake was extremely dry, though I have read other people's reviews saying other locations served moister versions. The chocolate wasn't horrible, but wasn't great either...not worth the calories, definitely. The Cinnabon cupcake was the only one that had a good combination of moist cake (with good cinnamon flavor) and decent frosting. I'd say Cinnabon would be better off sticking to cinnamon rolls!

Maybe I caught them on a good day, but my cupcake was one of the best I've ever had. The buttercream frosting was to die for on my vanilla bliss cupcake. So rich and creamy. My co-worker was dying because she is dieting. I had to hide it behind the box. Sooooooooo yummy!

I agree with Karen's comment (February 15, 2010 10:51 AM). I had all 4 as well, yesterday. Not at all impressed, very dry, a bite out of each, and in the trash.

I tried the Cinnabon flavoured cupcake once. It was amazingly good, but alas, it looks like the cupcake world was not for Cinnabon. They are no longer on the menu. :( I would love to find a recipe somewhere...
