Review: Cinnabon Cupcakes

My friend Kelly attended a mommy blogger event over the weekend. I was super excited to see her tweeting about the new Cinnabon cupcakes. I was even more excited when she saved one for me to try.

After getting mixed reviews on them, I was curious, but a little hesitant to try one. Kelly brought me the Cinnacake Classic cupcake, the one I thought would be the best anyway. I took a bite and am happy to report that it was tasty! BUT, I must say that I wouldn't really call it a cupcake. It is more of a hybrid between a cinnamon roll and cupcake. Whatever you want to call it, make sure you try one yourself.

Cinnabon Cupcakes

Everyone is starting to realize that cupcakes are not just a fad and are adding them to their menu. As much as I like this idea, most of the time the cupcakes are bad quality (perfect example: Taco Bell).

The newest place to jump on the cupcake bandwagon is Cinnabon. I'm actually excited to try one of their cupcakes because obviously they specialize in baked goods. And let's think about it...a cinnamon roll is not that much different than a cupcake. Well, I would say it's in the same family, at least.

Cinnabon is offering four flavors of cupcakes:

Cinnacake Classic ~ moist, vanilla cake infused with Cinnabon's Makara Cinnamon, topped with our signature cream cheese frosting and garnished with a caramel, Makara Cinnamon swirl.

Chocolate Passion ~ moist, decadent chocolate cake topped with rich, chocolate buttercream frosting

Vanilla Bliss ~ moist, divinely vanilla cake topped with luscious, vanilla buttercream frosting

24-Carrot Cake ~ moist, perfectly-spiced carrot cake with a hint of pineapple and coconut, topped with Cinnabon's signature cream cheese frosting and orange sugar sprinkles

A few people have already reviewed them (Nichelle from CTTC and Java Cupcake), but I want to hear what YOU think. Have you seen them being sold at your local Cinnabon? What's your favorite flavor?

Cinnamon Roll Cupcakes

Found this great idea for cupcakes on La Fuji Mama's blog--Cinnamon Roll Cupcakes. She posts a recipe for cinnamon rolls and frosting, but I bet you could use some pre-made Pillsbury cinnamon rolls instead. Looks so easy. One tip that I would pass on is that she suggests using two cupcake wrappers because of how gooey they will be. Enjoy!
