Cupcake Camp IE: The Cupcakes!

Cupcake Camp Inland Empire was a success! Not just because there were so many delicious cupcakes to taste, but because they were able to raise $8,400 for the Susan G. Komen Inland Empire Affiliate in just three hours! You can read more details on Cupcake Camp IE's website. Great job everyone!

Now you've read about the event, met the judges, and saw the winners. Let's get to the most important part: the cupcakes!

There were so many delicious-looking cupcakes at Cupcake Camp IE. I had to hold myself back from eating cupcakes before the judging started (I didn't want to be too full!). I've included a photo from each booth that was present at the event. Enjoy the photos and wipe that drool off your desk!

I had a great time at Cupcake Camp IE and plan on attending again next year! Hope to see you all there!

Cupcake Camp IE: The Judges

Meet the judges of Cupcake Camp IE

I was honored to be asked to participate as a judge at Cupcake Camp IE. I have to admit, it's my favorite job. There were four of us that got to taste the cupcakes in the professional category. You can see the full bios of the judges here, but I'll give you a quick summary.

Evelyn Evires: radio co-host of "Jeff and Evelyn in the Morning" on 99.1 KGGI. She was named the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's 2010 "Woman of the Year" for helping to raise over $61,000.

Me: you know me. My claim to fame is that I LOVE to eat cupcakes.

Jason Iehl and Kim Nelson: aka Mr. and Mrs. Saturday Night Foodies. They publish restaurant reviews on their website and have recently organized Drive Out Hunger, a two-week canned food drive to benefit Second Harvest Food Bank.

The other three woman judged cupcakes in the amateur category.

Vicky Figueroa-Torres: Board of Directors Public Policy Chair Inland Empire affiliate of Susan G. Komen.

Yvonne Ojeda: Board of Directors Education Chair Inland Empire affiliate of Susan G. Komen.

Ro Zinniger: owner of Ro Z's Sweet Art Studio in San Marcos, CA.

Cupcake Camp IE: The Event

Cupcake Camps are becoming quite the popular event! This was the second Cupcake Camp I've attended (the first one being Cupcake Camp OC in July) and I had a blast! Cupcake Camp Inland Empire was held at the beautiful Mission Inn Hotel in Riverside, CA.

The event was held in the Music Room of the Mission Inn and was absolutely beautiful! Tables of cupcakes lined the walls and the center of the room. I have to give props to Addie, the organizer of the event, because everything ran so smoothly. Although there was a line out the door to enter, it never felt chaotic in the main room, nor was there a free-for-all with the cupcakes. Everything was well put together.

All of the proceeds from Cupcake Camp IE went to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Inland Empire. One of the categories for the cupcake competition was Best Pink Ribbon/Breast Cancer Themed cupcake. All of them were so beautifully decorated (more details to come later).

One of the best parts of Cupcake Camp Inland Empire was meeting cupcake shops and bakers that were new to me. I live in Orange County, and have yet to visit any cupcake shops in the Inland Empire. Now I have a long list.

Stay tuned to meet the judges, see the cupcake competition, and drool at the photos of the cupcakes...
