Earlier this week I posted my review for
Sugar Sweet Sunshine Bakery, a cupcake shop my husband visited when he was in New York City last month. Well, those weren't the only cupcakes he brought home from NYC. He also stopped by
Babycakes NYC.
I didn't realize that Babycakes NYC was a vegan bakery. After I found this out, I was anxious to review my first vegan cupcakes.
Well, this review didn't go as planned. My husband had to transport the cupcakes from New York City to Orange County. Usually this works out ok, but these cupcakes were supposed to be refrigerated. He stuck the cupcakes in the fridge when he got home, but the damage was already done.

The cupcakes melted. Well, actually the frosting melted.

There's no way I can do a review for cupcakes that are not in their natural state.
Summary: What do I know about Babycakes NYC cupcakes? I learned that they are refined sugar-free, gluten-free, wheat-free, soy-free, casein-free, egg-free, vegan, kosher. To tell you the truth, this scares me a little. It's hard to imagine that cupcakes can be delicious without butter or sugar, but I'm ready for Babycakes NYC to prove me wrong.
I love their packaging: it's cute, you can see inside, and the cupcakes would probably stay in place during a normal situation (not carrying across the country).
The good news is that Babycakes NYC now has a
location in Los Angeles. Looks like I'm going to need to take a trip there to try their cupcakes.
