LA Cupcake Challenge: The Beginning
Yesterday was absolutely one of the funnest days in my life as The Cupcake Activist! I had such a great time at the LA Cupcake Challenge. Of course I have a million photos to sort through so please be patient as I get my posts together (plus I need to recover from my sugar high). Can't wait to show off all of the cupcakes!!

Olympics Cupcakes
I love the Olympics! Every two years my husband and I cuddle up in front of the TV to watch the Olympics together (let me clarify that we cuddle at other times too). There is just something so special about watching people do amazing things. Plus, I love the spirit of patriotism. Enjoy these Olympic cupcakes.

Presenting: My Cupcake Tower
Remember the big giveaway I hosted a few months ago for a Cupcake Tower? I couldn't believe how many of you really, really wanted to win this fantastic product. I mean, who wouldn't? There's nothing else like it!
Well, like all of you, I wanted one too. And last weekend I was finally able to debut my brand new Cupcake Tower!
My sister, Robin is pregnant with her second baby and I hosted a baby shower for her at my house. I was in charge of desserts (of course), so I decided that I wanted a variety of desserts, which I could display on my cupcake tower.

My sister, Robin is pregnant with her second baby and I hosted a baby shower for her at my house. I was in charge of desserts (of course), so I decided that I wanted a variety of desserts, which I could display on my cupcake tower.
The theme of the shower was the beach, so I made and decorated these adorable bear-in-intertube cupcakes. I got the idea from a photo I found on flickr.
Although cupcakes are great desserts by themselves, I wanted some variety too. I included a few other desserts: mini red velvet cookies, mint brownies, and lemon bars.
Since my Cupcake Tower had partitions on each level, I separated each dessert into sections.
What I love about my Cupcake Tower:
~Easy to store - it breaks down flat so it doesn't take up much space at all
~Easy to setup - less than a minute
~Easy to clean - has a thin laminate coating so it wipes clean easily
~Looks great - I got so many compliments on it!

Famous Cupcakes and Kim Kardashian
I was listening to the radio this morning and heard a commercial with Kris Jenner and Kim Kardashian. They were talking about how they used to make cupcakes when Kim was a little girl. The story led into Kim talking about the new cupcake mixes that she will be selling at Famous Cupcakes.
Famous Cupcakes has two locations: Beverly Hills and North Hollywood. They sell all-natural and organic cupcakes, available in all of the usual flavors. I haven't been here before, but the reviews on Yelp lead me to believe that the cupcakes are pretty decent.

The Kardashians have been promoting Famous Cupcakes for the past few months. (I wonder if they are part-owners or something like that.) This Friday (February 19, 2010) Kim Kardashian will be at the Beverly Hills location of Famous Cupcakes from 1:00-2:00pm to promote her new cupcake mix.

UPDATE: Famous Cupcake's website has been updated with info about the cupcake mixes. Each vanilla cupcake mix includes: vanilla cupcake mix, frosting recipe, cupcake liners, and pink sugar crystals. Each mix is $10.00 and yields 18 cupcakes.

Cupcake Mix from Fresh and Easy
I do my grocery shopping at Fresh & Easy. It is the best place for me to run in and out of the store pretty quick and not end up with a bunch of stuff I don't need. Yesterday I spotted this Fresh & Easy Vanilla Bean Cupcake & Cake Mix. I wish I would have looked closer to see what it contains, but I believe it came with cupcake liners, not sure about frosting. Next week I plan on buying it so I can test it out. (Cost = $3.99)
