Italy, Here I Come!

My search for cupcakes will be expanding to Europe. My husband and I leave for Italy on Saturday! Neither one of us have been to Europe before, so this should be quite the adventure. And when I say adventure, I really mean it.

Our journey will start in Venice, where we will stay for one night. Then, we will be on our way to Rome via road bikes. Yes, we are riding bikes across Italy! Biking by day, camping by night, and lots of Italian food in between.

I've been doing a little googling about cupcakes in Italy. Josephine's Bakery seems to be the place I'll be stopping by in Rome. Maybe I'll find some other hidden gems along the way.

I'll be checking in as often as I can while I'm gone. Wish me luck! Ciao!

I hope you LOVE Italy!!! Rome was the most amazing city! My biggest piece of advice for you though is to BE CAREFUL! Italian's are terrible drivers. really, the worst EVER. New York cab drivers drive a million times better than Italians.
Also, take pictures! Even though it's not cupcake related vacation pictures are always awesome. I really want to go to Venice, you'll have to let us know if it's worth a trip.

Oh my goodness! ENJOY YOURSELVES - you are going to have the time of your life. As for Josephine's -- Oh dear. I went in there during my semester abroad in Italy, but didn't get to try anything (GASP!) But i took a business card b/c it was so cute. And if you need INCREDIBLY AMAZING FOOD - the best meal I had while in Rome was at the Restaurant next to Josephine's Bakery - Costanza. This restaurant is, "what remains of the tiers of the Teatro di Pompeo: the first fixed theatre in Rome, dating back to 60 BC, which could hold up to 20,000 spectators. Tradition has it that this is the place where Julius Caesar was stabbed by Brutus." If you have a chance, you should go!!! ( I talk abotu Costanza here: http://icecreambeforedinner.blogspot.com/2008/06/italia-part-tre-and-mini-tarts.html

I've lived in italy a few years ago and have frequently visited since and I am finally returning this next year again for study. I have always been curious about cupcakes in italy- being an extreme cupcake activist- and I wonder if they exist greatly anywhere outside of the international city of rome. Sniff around during your trip, there could be a few business opportunities abound and promotion of cupcake goodwill worldwide!
